Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Sewing Day

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... Storm clouds are teasing me.

I am thinking... I want to make a skirt, but I'm not sure which one I want to make.

I am thankful... For my Sewing machines!

In the kitchen... I taught Alyssa how to make meatloaf today. It's in the oven!

I am wearing... My comfy clothes!!

I am creating... LOTS! I got a GREAT deal on some interfacing at a thrift store yesterday ($.50), so I started working on a t-shirt quilt for someone special!

I am going... To try and stay home as long as possible today. Hopefully, I wont have to leave at all!

I am wondering... What Detto doing right now??

I am reading... A time to Love! I am almost done with it! 

I am hoping... To finish sewing the binding onto the purple and green quilt today. I keep stopping to work on other projects like mending, and blocks.

I am looking forward to... volunteering at the church thrift store tomorrow with Alyssa.

I am learning... English Literature in college and I'm learning how to sew clothes without a pattern.

Around the house... Sissy is singing!

I am pondering... What should I use as the focus fabric for my nine patches.

One of my favorite things... Fabric. I am in love with the feel of fabric.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Volunteering at the church Thrift Store, driving my kids around, dropping off some of my clothes at the consignment shop.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... It is overcast, but the sun keeps peeking through. Kind of like a surprise. 

I am thinking... God is so good to me. 

I am thankful... for my sewing machines. They are always ready and waiting for a visit from me. 

In the kitchen... I am trying to decide what to  make for dinner....

I am wearing... A black skirt and a "summer" top. Both stretchy and very comfy. I tend to wear lots of skirts and dresses during the summer.

I am creating... quilt binding. I have 5 quilts that I hope to make the binding for today. 

I am going... NOWHERE!! I plan on staying home all day!

I am wondering... What Stephen is doing right now. He left for a camping trip last night. I pray he is enjoying himself.

I am reading... "A Time to Heal". Still! I sat down and read a few chapters this morning over breakfast!

I am hoping... To bind all five quilts today, and maybe even piece another quilt top!

I am looking forward to... Spending all day SEWING!

I am learning... how to do counted cross stitch! I am really enjoying it! 

Around the house... Sissy is watching Saturday Morning Cartoons and Jackson & Jasmine are sleeping on the pillow next to my sewing machine. (Detto's at drill & Stephen's camping.) Just us girls today.

I am pondering... What can I make with my over abundance of tomato's growing in my garden?

A few plans for the rest of the week: This is going to be a fairly busy week. I get to hang out with Mike & Tina's three kids and I am really looking forward to Reilly's birthday Party!

Outside my window... The Sun is shining and I am looking at my rose garden. I cut back the bushes yesterday and so they look all neat and orderly.

I am thinking... I am blessed to have a Father who loves me and supports me. I am also blessed to have a hubby who is a blessing to our children. I love the men in my life.

I am thankful... For quiet mornings and quilting magazines.

In the kitchen... The box of donuts is missing two... I wonder if anyone will notice?

I am wearing... My comfy clothes.

I am creating... A scrap quilt of of my "strings" of left over fabric. I found the pattern here at Quiltville.

I am going... to stay home today. Next week is our "Staycation", so we will be going all over.

I am wondering... When will my kids wake up?

I am reading... A Time to Heal, another Amish Quilting book, #2 in this series. There is not enough about quilting in this one.

I am hoping... to pin two quilts today... we will see.

I am looking forward to... Our STAYCATION this week

I am learning... that pressing blocks is an art form. I tend to iron a block and I need to be simply pressing it. The blocks are easier to work with when they are pressed. (This is a quilters thing I think.)

Around the house... The kids are sleeping and I am sitting at the kitchen table with my coffee, computer (catching up on quilt blogs), and my quilting magazines.

I am pondering... How do I get my hedges to grow taller, faster?

One of my favorite things... My laptop. I love that it is blue and it knows me and fits me so well. I just wish my jeans fit this good. LOL

A few plans for the rest of the week: Well, this week is our "Staycation". We decided to STAY in Florida this summer. No traveling to Italy, or Mexico, or South Carolina, etc. We are STAYING HOME and enjoying all that Florida has to offer. We are going to sleep in our own beds EVERY NIGHT!! We will be tourist in Florida. We are going to the beach, Kennedy Space Center, Disney's Animal Kingdom, we will be enjoying our community pool, and we will be playing board games & cards AND MOST OF ALL SPENDING TIME AS A FAMILY!! This week there will be NO friends over and NO long hours on the computer or watching TV! I can't wait!

Jasmine loves to hunt lizards on the porch. She is too good at it and I am constantly cleaning up her offerings. :)

I am creating...flannel quilts for my Quilted Hugs project and working on my Summer Coloured Day Quilt!

I am going...to return this Redbox movie before I forget again. 

I am wondering...if I have time to take a nap before I start dinner.

I am hoping...that Detto isn't away all day.

I am looking forward to...Watching a movie with Detto Tonight!

I am learning... To ignore teenage girl "noises" (giggling, screaming, laughing, etc.)

I am thinking... I really need a pedicure. Who can I get to go with me??

I am thankful... That I got a NEW PHONE!! I just LOVE it!

In the kitchen... Stephen is making PB&J! One of my favorites!

I am wearing... A really comfy blue & gray dress that I bought in Mexico! I love how soft it is!

I am creating... A quilt in my mind. I need to draw it out so I dont forget it.

I am going... To get a pedicure as soon as I drop the kids off at their different activities this afternoon.

I am wondering... Why I wait so long between pedicures?? LOL

I am reading...Bad Girls of the Bible & LOVING IT! I am so glad that I can learn from THEIR mistakes!

I am hoping...to get into my sewing room today.

I am looking forward to... WATCHING ABBY ALL WEEK!!! I cant wait!

I am learning... how to juggle - college, homeschooling, volunteering, baby-sitting, and sewing! So far so good!

Around the house...Alyssa is playing the piano and singing. I love that my kids are so musical.

I am pondering... When will be get to go to Disney next?? I really want to go soon!

Outside my window... It is cloudy, I hope it rains.

I am thinking...That I am sleepy, but I really want to finish organizing my sewing room.

I am thankful...That everything turned out OK last night.

In the kitchen...I am planning on making Panini's for me and the kids for dinner. Thank You Detto for the surprise Panini book & New Panini Press! I love you!
I am wearing...My PJ's! Today is my LAZY Saturday!

I am creating...Lots, I am in the middle of SEVERAL Quilts, some embroidery, and organizing/moving around my sewing room!

I am going... To church tomorrow. I hope that I do not leave the house today!

I am wondering...Why my Ulcerative Colitis is flaring up again!

I am reading...Several books and listening to books on CD!

I am hoping...That this UC thing calms back down & That I finish a quilt top that I am working on!

I am learning... How to Prioritize. I did some Light cleaning today BEFORE I went into my sewing room!

Around the house... Alyssa is cleaning her room while listening to a book on CD and Stephen is working on homework while listening to music. The kids both have been working on their chores today! They are such a blessing.

One of my favorite things... Dark Chocolate & Fruit! Today so far I have had grapes, a plum, an apple, and some dried cranberry's. I eat meals and then I snack on FRUIT & Veggies!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Quilt, Sew, take Stephen to the dentist, go visit my GI doctor (ugh!), Quilt, Sew, Read, Teach, go to the Mount Dora Museum of Art and see the new exhibit, and then..... QUILT and SEW!

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... The Sun Is shinning, the birds are singing (because I filled the bird feeder), The grass is SOOOOO Bright GREEN!! And the Flowers are blooming!

I am thinking... How Blessed I am to live here! I love my home and FLORIDA!

I am thankful... That God has continued to provide!

In the kitchen... I am planning on Chicken and Rice for dinner!

I am wearing... My work in the yard clothes. I am about to go and pull weeds. Ugh

I am creating...A WONDERFUL Applique Quilt in the Sewing Room. I cant wait to go work on it! I have to finish my "chores" first. :(

I am going... to work in my garden! I love growing fresh veggies for my family!

I am wondering... If the Okra plant my neighbor gave me will survive.

I am reading... 3 different books right now. 1. Bad Girls of the Bible (my womens Bible study) 2. Blowback by Brad Thor (my paperback that I can take with me) 3. All Different Kinds Of Free by Jessica McCann (on my tablet)







I am hoping...That I get the floors cleaned today!

I am looking forward to...SEWING TODAY!! I have so many projects in process and I feel inspired to getting some major progress done!

I am learning... English 122 in my college class. I am just thankful that my HORRIBLE Computer Literacy class is over!

Around the house...Stephen is playing drums and Sissy is doing her school work! I kept Stephen home today because he is all stuffy! I hope this doesnt turn into anything.

I am pondering...What is Detto doing today? I sure do miss him.

A favorite quote for today... When Life hands you Lemons...Throw them at the nearest Jerk! (that is a Lisa original! I wouldn't do it, but it makes me laugh anyways.)
One of my favorite things...Hot Tea! There is NOTHING like a cup of Hot Tea in the Morning, well... or afternoon, or evening right before bed! I LOVE HOT TEA!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Clean the house, take the kids shopping for new socks and unders (they sure grow fast), relax and enjoy my time with my Kiddos!

A peek into my day... I am sitting at the breakfast table typing this, next I will head upstairs to teach Sissy Science, and then I will head outside to work in my garden! I hope to have all of my "chores" finished by lunch so that I can take the kids to the store and then be home for the rest of the day. I really want to just forget all of my responsibilities and spend the entire weekend in my Sewing Room, but that is just a fantasy!

Outside my window... There is a cardinal that is driving my cats crazy!!

I am thinking... You never know how much you wanted to do something until you cant do it anymore!

I am thankful for... The people around me who listen to me when I am upset and comfort me during my times of disapointment!

From the learning rooms... We are done with everything except the last of the 50 States and Capitals AND the kids want to finish our last 1 1/2 chapters of Science... Oceanography & Astronomy

From the kitchen... Lisa and I finished our cooking for a month (even though we didnt get 30 dishes made) also last night I made a really yummy "Amish Shoe-fly Pie". It tastes like licorice!!

I am wearing... Jeans and a brown shirt!

I am creating... A gift for someone (shhhh its a secret)

I am going... to the library later today!

Outside my window... The sun is shining in a blue cloudless sky!! Its warming up and I am LOVING it!

I am thinking... about my Precept Bible Study on Isaiah... It is REALLY good!
I am thankful for... Detto being home and for my perfect kids!

From the learning rooms... We finished up our study of Abraham Lincoln today and the kids are writing reports that they will give orally on Friday! Also, I am catching up on grading today! I have all of Alyssa's caught up now for Stephen's stuff!

From the kitchen... I am mostly lost in the kitchen, but tonight I will make baked chicken and sweet potatoes! Yummy!
I am wearing... stretchy pants that wont cling to my bandage and a t-shirt! My hair is in a pony tail and I have on socks!!

I am creating... Downy Quilts for Kids! Stephen just finished his quilt top and Alyssa only has to sew the blocks together and she will be done with her's too!

I am going... to the grocery store MAYBE!! I dont want to but I need to and I think Detto might "strongly suggest" I go today!

I am reading... Book #4 in the Elm Creek Quilters Series - The Runaway Quilt! Love it so far!

I am hoping... That Detto finds a job soon!

I am hearing... Stephen on the phone with Noah and Alyssa typing away on the computer (working on her Abe Lincoln paper!)

Around the house... We finished a puzzle today! I found it in a baggie and didnt know which one it was! So... we put it together! There is a piece missing :(

One of my favorite things... Ice Cream! I had a bowl of ice cream after lunch! It's the first bowl of ice cream that I have had in over a month... YUMMY!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: I have my Post-op Dr's appt tomorrow! And then I'm looking forward to church tomorrow night! Also, I get to watch CHLOE on FRIDAY!! YEAH!! I miss her alot today?!?!?!

Outside my window... It has been RAINING ALL DAY!!

I am thinking... I am not going to sleep until I get some sewing done!!

I am thankful for... My Phone! I love being able to talk to my hubby!!

From the learning rooms... We did regular school today!! Tomorrow is our 2nd Bible Class... I can't wait!!

From the kitchen... I cheated tonight! But tomorrow I will pick up my special order loaf from a new bakery I found. I will let you know how it was!! I can't remember which kind I ordered!?!?

I am wearing... Flannel P.J. Pants, a sleep shirt, and socks with grippies on the bottoms!

I am creating... Snowman and snow-ladies blocks

I am going... To my Ladies Bible Class tomorrow!!

I am reading...  I just finished "The Quilter's Apprentice" by Jennifer Chiaverini ~ I loved it!! It was book one of a whole series... I can't wait to go to the library tomorrow and pick up book two!!

I am hoping... The kids LOVE their Bible Class tomorrow!

I am hearing... My Audio Book (I ALWAYS listen to books on cd while I sew or scrapbook!)

Around the house... I have CLEANED everything. Detto is coming home in a few more days and I want this place to shine!!

One of my favorite things... Sue Bee Honey!! It is so Yummy!! I even liked it on the Scones that Sissy and I made!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: SEW, SEW, Sew, have MINOR surgery on my leg, rest, rest, sew, and then sew some more!!!
