Detto's Home!!

We got the call that Detto was going to get to come home early...So Sissy and I headed down to the airport to pick him up!

He came home a few days ago and we have been enjoying having him back!
We went out to dinner to celebrate him being home and afterwards we took a drive around town.

When we saw this we all started cracking up!

This week we have been glued to the Olympics!
I love watching the USA win so many metals!

Sewing Vs Quilting

Alot of people that I meet assume that because I quilt I also enjoy sewing clothing.
Well, that is not necessarily true.
I do occasionally sew clothing, but I prefer quilting.
I do however enjoy altering my clothes.

I played with this shirt that was too big.
It looks better on!

Then I whipped up this fun knit tank.

And I even made this fabric flower and added it!

I decided to conquer shirring. So, I made this bathing suit cover-up! I am so impressed with how well it turned out!

Then I went through my closet and pulled all of this out to donate to my church thrift store!
I love getting rid of stuff that I haven't worn...

that just makes room for the new!!

What's Up??

I'm not sure what you've been up to, but I have been busy, busy, busy!

I have been working on projects that have been patiently waiting.
I decided to go ahead and make Stephen his drawstring backpack out of the fabric that he chose in Mexico!
I think it turned out pretty good!
He sure likes it and that is all that matters!

Then I was inspired to change out his camo curtains.
Stephen has changed and he isn't into camo as much as he used to be.BEFORE

AFTER!
I bought this fabric at a thrift store for less $1.50!!
He loves the new look, so I'm happy!

I had to show you where I'm at on my nine patch challenge.
I have been making lots of nine patches and whittling down my stash!
I added some Snowball blocks to mix it up.
What do you think?

I have lots of quilts in my "Quilted Hugs" project that are finished and ready to be mailed to the Orphans in Mexico. So, I started boxing them up! I was shocked at how many I completed!

I hope that you are enjoying your summer!
Now is a GREAT time to finish up the WIP's or even start a new project!

Quilting Update

With Detto gone I have been spending lots of time in my sewing room.
I have spent time cleaning it and organizing it!
I even decided to work on some older projects that have been waiting around for me.
Like this Braided Rug! It's getting bigger...

This is a photo of some of my nine patches that I have been doing daily. Lisa took a couple to use as examples for the upcoming Sewing Class!

I finished quilting this. Then I even made AND added the binding.
I just didn't take a picture.
I decided to play around with some ideas on how I want to lay out this quilt...What do you think?

Lisa came over to make a skirt with me.And then I showed her how to make a sewing caddy.
I really should post that tutorial.... Maybe tomorrow.

Thinking about my Mom today!

i SAW THIS AND THOUGHT IT WAS HILARIOUS!!

i HOPE YOU LIKE IT!

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES....

WHY DID GOD MAKE MOTHERS?
1. SHE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS WHERE THE SCOTCH TAPE IS.

2. MOSTLY TO CLEAN THE HOUSE..

3. TO HELP US OUT OF THERE WHEN WE WERE GETTING BORN.

HOW DID GOD MAKE MOTHERS?
1. HE USED DIRT, JUST LIKE FOR THE REST OF US.

2. MAGIC PLUS SUPER POWERS AND A LOT OF STIRRING.

3. GOD MADE MY MOM JUST THE SAME LIKE HE MADE ME. HE JUST USED BIGGER PARTS.

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE MOTHERS MADE OF?
1. GOD MAKES MOTHERS OUT OF CLOUDS AND ANGEL HAIR AND EVERYTHING NICE IN THE WORLD AND ONE DAB OF MEAN.

2. THEY HAD TO GET THEIR START FROM MEN'S BONES. THEN THEY MOSTLY USE STRING, I THINK.

WHY DID GOD GIVE YOU YOUR MOTHER AND
NOT SOME OTHER MOM?
1. WE'RE RELATED.

2. GOD KNEW SHE LIKES ME A LOT MORE THAN OTHER PEOPLE'S MOM LIKE ME.

WHAT KIND OF A LITTLE GIRL WAS YOUR MOM?
1. MY MOM HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY MOM AND NONE OF THAT OTHER STUFF.

2. I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE I WASN'T THERE, BUT MY GUESS WOULD BE PRETTY BOSSY.

3. THEY SAY SHE USED TO BE NICE.

WHAT DID MOM NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DAD BEFORE
SHE MARRIED HIM?
1. HIS LAST NAME.

2. SHE HAD TO KNOW HIS BACKGROUND. LIKE IS HE A CROOK? DOES HE GET DRUNK ON BEER?

3. DOES HE MAKE AT LEAST $800 A YEAR? DID HE SAY NO TO DRUGS AND YES TO CHORES?

WHY DID YOUR MOM MARRY YOUR DAD?
1. MY DAD MAKES THE BEST SPAGHETTI IN THE WORLD. AND MY MOM EATS A LOT.

2. SHE GOT TOO OLD TO DO ANYTHING ELSE WITH HIM.

3. MY GRANDMA SAYS THAT MOM DIDN'T HAVE HER THINKING CAP ON.

WHO'S THE BOSS AT YOUR HOUSE?
1. MOM DOESN'T WANT TO BE BOSS, BUT SHE HAS TO BECAUSE DAD'S SUCH A GOOF BALL.

2. MOM. YOU CAN TELL BY ROOM INSPECTION. SHE SEES THE STUFF UNDER THE BED.

3. I GUESS MOM IS, BUT ONLY BECAUSE SHE HAS A LOT MORE TO DO THAN DAD.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOMS AND DADS?
1. MOMS WORK AT WORK AND WORK AT HOME AND DADS JUST GO TO WORK AT WORK.

2. MOMS KNOW HOW TO TALK TO TEACHERS WITHOUT SCARING THEM.

3. DADS ARE TALLER AND STRONGER, BUT MOMS HAVE ALL THE REAL POWER 'CAUSE THAT'S WHO YOU GOT TO ASK IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP OVER AT YOUR FRIENDS.

4. MOMS HAVE MAGIC, THEY MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER WITHOUT MEDICINE.

WHAT DOES YOUR MOM DO IN HER SPARE TIME?
1. MOTHERS DON'T DO SPARE TIME.

2. TO HEAR HER TELL IT, SHE PAYS BILLS ALL DAY LONG.

WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO MAKE YOUR MOM PERFECT?
1. ON THE INSIDE SHE'S ALREADY PERFECT. OUTSIDE, I THINK SOME KIND OF PLASTIC SURGERY.

2. DIET. YOU KNOW, HER HAIR. I'D DIET, MAYBE BLUE.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOUR MOM,
WHAT WOULD IT BE?
1. SHE HAS THIS WEIRD THING ABOUT ME KEEPING MY ROOM CLEAN. I'D GET RID OF THAT.

2. I'D MAKE MY MOM SMARTER. THEN SHE WOULD KNOW IT WAS MY SISTER WHO DID IT NOT ME.

3. I WOULD LIKE FOR HER TO GET RID OF THOSE INVISIBLE EYES ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD.

Thanks mOM FOR LOVING ME AND FOR PUTTING UP WITH ALL OF MY STUNTS.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Sewing Day

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... Storm clouds are teasing me.

I am thinking... I want to make a skirt, but I'm not sure which one I want to make.

I am thankful... For my Sewing machines!

In the kitchen... I taught Alyssa how to make meatloaf today. It's in the oven!

I am wearing... My comfy clothes!!

I am creating... LOTS! I got a GREAT deal on some interfacing at a thrift store yesterday ($.50), so I started working on a t-shirt quilt for someone special!

I am going... To try and stay home as long as possible today. Hopefully, I wont have to leave at all!

I am wondering... What Detto doing right now??

I am reading... A time to Love! I am almost done with it!

I am hoping... To finish sewing the binding onto the purple and green quilt today. I keep stopping to work on other projects like mending, and blocks.

I am looking forward to... volunteering at the church thrift store tomorrow with Alyssa.

I am learning... English Literature in college and I'm learning how to sew clothes without a pattern.

Around the house... Sissy is singing!

I am pondering... What should I use as the focus fabric for my nine patches.

A favorite quote for today... "If at first you don't succeed, try doing it the way your wife told you."

One of my favorite things... Fabric. I am in love with the feel of fabric.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Volunteering at the church Thrift Store, driving my kids around, dropping off some of my clothes at the consignment shop.

A peek into my day...

Just a Thought... or two

I think I might be a coffee drinker now.
shhhh don't tell anyone!
I still LOVE my hot tea, but coffee is growing on me.

AMEN!!

I LOVE THIS!!

God is so good!
I am glad that He is in control!

A visit with Tigger

Tigger was ready to play!

Isn't this adorable?

She was thrilled with her new costume.

Amy will only let her wear her new costume is Abby uses the potty!
I think this is a GREAT way to potty train!
Whatever works. Right?

Abby was looking for her tail.

She got it!

oops, the tail dropped again!LOL

We were rolling watching her look for her tail.

She found it again! LOL

She was so thrilled!

Then Tigger needed a "horsey" ride!

Hugs!
