Quilting Update... URR!!

Here are some more of my Underground Railroad blocks!

I love the colors!

Hobbs is getting sooooo big!

Juliette Loves to sleep in my sewing chair!

She doesn't care if I am sitting there too, she will just move over so we can share! LOL
I love it!

I learned how to knit...It takes alot to get even a little bit done!

I am not very good at it, or very fast! Oh well!

Save the THIMBLE!!

Quiltmaker is asking us to HELP OUT!

We need to spread the word ----

Monopoly ((The Game)) has put our favorite icon, the humble silver thimble –at risk!

OH. NO!

It was always my favorite game piece…even through it was NEVER going to ever fit any one of my fingers – EVER.

Kittens and Quilts!

The kitties are getting so big so fast!

They get into EVERYTHING!! I need to focus on making them some toys!
Here are three quilts that I finished and never posted!
Thankfully I remembered to take pictures before I mailed them off to their new homes!
Two went to the Quilted Hugs Orphans and the other one went to someone....
They still haven't gotten it yet, but when they do I hope they will be surprised!

Aren't they adorable?

Close up of the quilt...
I tried bubble quilting!

This was an allover looping. It looks a little like bananas.

Another attempt at bubble quilting!

Family Update & A Quilt!

I have started and finished quite a few quilts that I have not blogged about!
It is amazing how many quilts that I finish each year.
This is one that I am working on from the left over pieces from Alyssa's Owl Quilt!
That quilt top is already finished and waiting for me to decide if I am going to quilt it or have it quilted.
We have also had a new addition to our family... Johnny has moved in with us.
It has been a great blessing to have him here. I love my nieces and nephews and Johnny is such a good boy!

He is so silly and fun to be around.

Johnny has been with us for almost 3 months, time sure does fly! He has made HUGE improvements and we are so proud of him!
Johnny is going to school at Adventure Christian with Alyssa. They both are loving school and their grades show it! All A's and 3 B's between them!
What a blessing to have such GREAT kids!

Ninos Quilts... Quilted Hugs Update!!

I have TONS to catch up on, but I am going to just start here and eventually I will be caught up on my blog.
I have been going to school full time, teaching part-time, volunteering, and playing super-Mom!
I have not made my blog a priority, but...
I want to change that.
I miss blogging! I miss having the record of our lives!
So with that said...
A few months ago I posted about my Quilted Hugs Project. I have been steadily quilting away for the children of the Ninos de Mexico Orphanages. As they have been finished I have been putting the quilts in boxes to be shipped. I recently had enough to fill TWO HUGE boxes!

I had some of my friends from our Sunday Night Bible study display them before I shipped them out!
We had 30 that I sent out, enough to stretch across our entire backyard!

I didn't realize how many I had finished until I got them all out for these pictures.
I love that they are all different sizes, shapes, and patterns!
I pray that the children who receive them feel the love that went into each quilt!

Some of these quilts were UFO's & QIP's (Quilts In Progress) for years and I am glad to just to finish them and get rid of them! However, this has been great for stash-busting and getting rid of stray blocks!

I can not wait to send the next box. I should be sending out another box this week!

Thank you to everyone who donated fabric to me over the years. It has found a good home in Mexico!

Sewing Vs Quilting

Alot of people that I meet assume that because I quilt I also enjoy sewing clothing.
Well, that is not necessarily true.
I do occasionally sew clothing, but I prefer quilting.
I do however enjoy altering my clothes.

I played with this shirt that was too big.
It looks better on!

Then I whipped up this fun knit tank.

And I even made this fabric flower and added it!

I decided to conquer shirring. So, I made this bathing suit cover-up! I am so impressed with how well it turned out!

Then I went through my closet and pulled all of this out to donate to my church thrift store!
I love getting rid of stuff that I haven't worn...

that just makes room for the new!!

Quilting Update

With Detto gone I have been spending lots of time in my sewing room.
I have spent time cleaning it and organizing it!
I even decided to work on some older projects that have been waiting around for me.
Like this Braided Rug! It's getting bigger...

This is a photo of some of my nine patches that I have been doing daily. Lisa took a couple to use as examples for the upcoming Sewing Class!

I finished quilting this. Then I even made AND added the binding.
I just didn't take a picture.
I decided to play around with some ideas on how I want to lay out this quilt...What do you think?

Lisa came over to make a skirt with me.And then I showed her how to make a sewing caddy.
I really should post that tutorial.... Maybe tomorrow.

Sewing with Ceceilia & hanging with the Mongiovi Kids!

Mike & Tina's kids came over to hang out this week.
Tina is packing because they are moving to Tennessee and so I offered to watch the kids to give her some time to get stuff done.

While Ceceillia was here she asked me if she could make a rug for her cat. LOL

Into the sewing room we went and I gave her my scrap bin and scissors and let her go to town!

This is what she designed.

I helped her pin down the pieces and I taught her how to sew them down.

She did most of it herself.

She drew a cat on the "quilt/rug" and lots of quilting designs.

I quilted it for her, but she did everything else on her own.

This is the "finished product"!

She did such a great job!

The boys played games and hung out with Detto with me and girly worked in the sewing room. Then we all went swimming!

It was such a blessing to be able to spend time with them.
We sure will miss these little wiggles when they move!

Hugs,
Lisa
