What's Up??

I'm not sure what you've been up to, but I have been busy, busy, busy!

I have been working on projects that have been patiently waiting.
I decided to go ahead and make Stephen his drawstring backpack out of the fabric that he chose in Mexico!
I think it turned out pretty good!
He sure likes it and that is all that matters!

Then I was inspired to change out his camo curtains.
Stephen has changed and he isn't into camo as much as he used to be.BEFORE

AFTER!
I bought this fabric at a thrift store for less $1.50!!
He loves the new look, so I'm happy!

I had to show you where I'm at on my nine patch challenge.
I have been making lots of nine patches and whittling down my stash!
I added some Snowball blocks to mix it up.
What do you think?

I have lots of quilts in my "Quilted Hugs" project that are finished and ready to be mailed to the Orphans in Mexico. So, I started boxing them up! I was shocked at how many I completed!

I hope that you are enjoying your summer!
Now is a GREAT time to finish up the WIP's or even start a new project!

The Process of My Cow Quilt

OK.... let me start by saying I am not sure what I was thinking.
LOL

Someone gave me a stack of pre-cut cows to use for quilting.
These have been sitting in my sewing room for over 2 years.
Every time I am looking through my stash I find the cows and wonder "What in the world am I going to do with these?"

I HATE to throw out fabric, so I would look at them and then put them back in the fabric stash.
Well, while working on my Quilted Hugs Project I decided to use the cows.
I pulled them out and refused to put them back.
I MUST FIND A USE FOR THESE!!

This is what I came up with...

I decided to make a quilt with the cows grazing.
Before I added the scrappy half-square triangles the grass didn't look right.

I was trying to figure out how to use up my scraps and I had both the green and blue strips already cut, so... I added them to either side.

Now when I quilt this I will add tails to the cows, clouds in the sky, and texture in the grass.
I am glad they were finally used.
&&&
It added another quilt top to my Quilted Hugs Project!
I will need to count my quilts this week to see how many I have finished and how many more I need to make!

New Toys and More

I have decided to move the sewing room around again.
I was not crazy about the "flow"!
So....
This is what I did.
This is the view from the doorway.

I do not know why a clean sewing room seems so much more creative.

It is so hard to keep it clean though.
I realized that I did not show you this finished quilt top...
or these quilt blocks...
or this...

or this quilt top that I am trying decide how to set...
I am not crazy about the layout!
But I think it will make a GREAT kids quilt.
The snowmen have so much detail.
I got these blocks shown and another 20 for only $2 at the "Fabric Sale"!
I will probably be talking about that sale for another few years. LOL

In this post, I showed this picture of my sewing area
Well, I had to let you know that the pinwheels have been make into these blocks.

I was going to use them for my Quilted Hugs project, but they just seem too "mature" to give to kids. What do you think?
Should I complete it and send it?
OR
Should I just hold on to it to give to someone else??

Anyways, I had to show you my new toy that Detto sent home.
Well, it is really a new toy for the whole family!

Its a Panini Press! Alyssa and I are loving it so far!
She even made me lunch with it...
I love grilled cheese and tomato soup and that is what we had!
Also,
I was given this quilt top

It needs some extra love and care.
I can't decide if I should fix it and keep it, or pass it along to someone who would love it more than me. Is there someone out there who would love it more than me??

I love all of the vintage fabrics on it.
Whoever made it took a lot of time piecing it.
I have good news....
Detto will be home soon.
The Army takes him away too much!
I am ready for him to be home for another few months.

I also was given a new phone! Yippy!
Now I have a smart phone, but I don't have a picture of it!

Process Pledge ~ Quilted Hugs Update

I have been a busy little bee!
I am so thrilled with all of the great changes in my sewing world!
I bought so many great fabrics from the "Fabric sale".
I did not even picture ALL of the GREAT things that I bought!
I couldn't even put them on my Newly cleaned and organized shelves...

I went straight to cutting and sewing!

Here is a great kids quilt that I made.

I already owned the green and blue and I went to the sale specifically looking for a Bright Yellow to put with these fabrics.

When I found this I just KNEW that it was PERFECT!!
I also bought the bright green FQ's for only $.50 each!!
I am really pleased with the end result. The "darker" green fabric has bright yellow stars on it. It goes great when you see it up close, but the colors aren't "true" in the photo!
I was also able to piece a scrappy backing with the left over fabric from the quilt top. I only had to add a few white scraps to make it big enough!

I mostly listen to books on CD while sewing, but I was blessed with LIVE music recently...
He is so cute!

I moved my sewing room around, so that I could sew... but still rest (per the Dr's orders).
I am not thrilled with the results.
I will move it around again soon.
Something just seems to be missing.
This is the view from the door.

Don't you love my HUGE design wall??
I sure do!
I bought 7 of these blocks at the fabric sale for only $.50!!
Sew... I made 2 matching blocks from scrap fabric and
TADA!!
I was able to whip up this quilt top within minutes!
I just added two borders (from stash fabric) and I had a whole quilt top!

Lisa S and I both bought a few books from the sale and I have lots of quilts planned from the patterns that I found. I decided to sort my scraps by color.
I think this will help me to make some new "Planned Scrap Quilts"!

Now I need to take these piles and further divide them into lights and darks!
I was thinking of doing a scrappy log cabin quilt.
What do you think??

Here is another quilt that is in progress. The pink fabric has Elmo on it with Letters in Primary colors.
I love this "Rail Fence" pattern.
This pattern is so basic and whips together so quickly!

I pray that you are having as much fun sewing as I am, or doing whatever it is that makes you smile!

FABRIC SALE!!!

Last year Lisa S. and I went to a quilting club at the First Baptist Church in Mount Dora.
Neither of us are members of the church, but who can resist a quilting club??
We were only able to attend about a dozen times because of our busy schedules, but we just LOVE the other ladies there.
The leader of the club called me this week to tell me about a fabric sale they were hosting.
There was a lady in the church who passed away from cancer and they were helping to sell her fabric to raise money for the medical bills and her funeral service.

This lady had more fabric than some quilt shops!

It took the ladies of the club over 3 months to get it all organized.
Well, the prices were so great that I could not pass it up!

With my Quilted Hugs project I need more fabric in order to make my 120 Quilts!

They had fabric panels for only $2!!WOW!

Lisa and I LOVED every minute of it!

Sissy took pictures!

She is developing her camera skills!

One of the ladies asked a question and the next thing we all knew...
We had an impromptu tutorial!

She was showing us how to make a fabric flower! Like the one on her shirt.

Fold, cut, sew

It was soooo simple!
The ladies there are all so nice!
We had a great time laughing and shopping!

I can not wait to get into some of my purchases...
These are just a few.
I have not opened the other bag yet!
This is why I am cleaning my sewing room!
Hugs,
Lisa

The Grainery - Fabric - Mexico

The Fabric and Embrodery was my favorite part of the museum.

That is why I am doing this part separate from the rest of the pictures!

These samplers were all done by hand.

I cant believe how intricate it is.

This is an old hand tied loom.

I love this weaving.

The Pinata's were sooo cool!

This guy looks like he had a little too much fun!

I love this lamp.

This is Alyssa, Hildago, & Stephen

I love this shot!

The murals were amazing!
